VOW! - Be the Change
Game Rules
Your community has accumulated excessive waste.
Work together to reduce landfill contributions by strategically playing resource cards.
Each properly used card earns one point.
Objective
Trade with others and handle non-recyclable waste responsibly to minimize landfill contributions.
Number of Players: 4–6 players
Target Audience: Ages 12–99+, for those who enjoy fun, learning, and creative collaboration.
How to Win?
- All sustainable stations are built.
- All resource cards have been effectively used
The game ends when all sustainable solutions (Compost, Charity Shop, Recycling Station) are built and all playable resource cards have been used effectively.
Players must collaborate to minimize waste, consciously distribute resources, and make responsible decisions to win.
After all resource cards are played, count the number of cards in the SAVED and LANDFILL piles (see "After Playing a Card").
Game Setup
- Each player selects a button and places their marker on the START space.
- Count out resource cards:
- 4 players: 52 cards (ideírni, hogy mennyi, milyen) + mindegyik mellé ikonokat betenni
- 5 players: 65 cards
- 6 players: 78 cards
- Shuffle and separate each deck (Resource, Action, Quiz).
- Each player receives 13 Resource Cards from the counted pile.
- The player wearing the most natural fabrics goes first.
- The game is played in clockwise order.
Turn Structure
On your turn, you may:
- Roll the dice and move. If you land on Action/Question, draw a card.
- Choose ONE of the following actions:
- Activate an Action Card.
- Draw an Action Card.
- Participate in community building – start or join a project to construct a sustainable station.
- Trade any kind of card with the other players on a 1:1 basis (so, if you give two cards, the other player must also give two).
After Playing a Card - Cards go into one of two piles:
If the action results in a sustainable use, the card goes into the SAVED pile, otherwise it goes to the LANDFILL.
- SAVED Pile: Contains cards given a second life (recyclable items, compostable waste, or charity donations).
- LANDFILL Pile: Holds non-recyclable materials and incorrectly played items (e.g., eggshells in the trash).
Action Cards
You can decide when to activate your action card.
Two types of Action Cards:
- Individual: Only affects the player who plays it. If the card requires a specific resource, you cannot use it until you have the required card.
- Everyone: Affects all players. Everyone must follow the instructions.
Quiz Cards
- The player who draws a Quiz Card reads the question out loud.
- The other players provide an answer.
- Players who answer correctly (or closest in case of a guess) earn a reward:
- Discard a recyclable card into the SAVED pile.
- Discard a non-recyclable card into the LANDFILL pile.
Rules of Community Building
Players may use their turn to contribute to community building. The chosen project moves to the first space on the Community Building Construction Area, advancing one space with each contribution. The completed structure is placed on the board in an empty space.
- Only one of each type can be built:
- Composting station
- Charity shop
- Recycling station
- Required contributions for completion:
- 4 players: 2 actions
- 5 players: 3 actions
- 6 players: 4 actions
- Multiple constructions can occur simultaneously.
Resources cards:
If you're unsure about something, feel free to look it up! The small icons will guide you in determining what is recyclable and what is not.
